Race No. 1 Barcelona
The Barcelona International.

What can you possibly say about this race that has not been said before. It is almost certainly the most prestigious pigeon race in the world and attracts the highest level of fancier and pigeon so what chance do we have? Truthfully, very little, but what we can hope for is to get into the result, even this would be a great achievement, so lets look at that as out aim - to see TEAM RML in the result of the greatest pigeon race of the year.

You can find an explanation of the race HERE and follow this years race HERE while on this page you can follow TEAM RML's race. Enjoy.

TEAM RML have received no such notification to date and so we can assume that our pigeons were not involved. Whilst these incidents are regrettable they are occasionally unavoidable, as full security measures would be prohibitively expensive. What is impressive is the speed with which the individual birds have been identified and the owners informed.

Well it has been a long, long wait and I am sorry for the lack of updates but nothing has arrived until today that is, Wednesday 7th July and Day 6 of the Barcelona race, while I was out at Marking for Tarbes "222" arrived and here you can see him in his nestbox looking really quite fit all things considered.
GB2005N07222, with his rubbers still on, just arrived back from Barcelona - but it is Day 6.
Sunday 11th July 2010.

GB2005N07237 decided to grace us with his presence, Day 10. He was sitting out on the landing board at 0845 when I went to open up the trap, just in case he decided to return. I was fairly sure he would and at about this sort of time. Both he and "222" arrived in good condition and have looked after themselves on the way home the other two I fear may have tried harder to get home and suffered for it.

Tuesday 13th July 2010.

Today I received notification that GB2005N07250 who went No. 1 on the sheet had been reported by a non-fancier in Surrey. When I rang the young lady concerned she told me she had found him on Saturday but unfortunately he died soon after. Much as I had thought, “250” would try his utmost to get home and had exhausted himself in the process unlike the two who did get home by managing to look after themselves as a first priority.
